Life Sketch
Kanjiswami
1890–1980
Renowned propagator of the Adhyatma school of Digambar Jain philosophy. Custodian of the spiritual legacy of Acharya Kundkund and Shrimad Rajchandra.
Pujya Gurudevshri Kanjiswami was born in Umrala, Gujarat, into a Sthanakvasi family. From his teens he sought out the path of inner realization. Encountering the Samaysar of Acharya Kundkund proved a turning point — he recognized the Adhyatma (self-knowledge) tradition as the heart of Jain darshan and devoted his life to it.
Over five decades of pravachans in Songadh, Gujarat, he lucidly expounded the Samaysar, the Pravachansar, the Niyamsar, and Param Krupaludev’s Atmasiddhi Shastra. His daily discourses drew thousands and gave rise to a vast print and audio archive that has shaped Adhyatma study communities across India and the diaspora.
Pujya Gurudevshri’s life is celebrated as the bridge that carried Acharya Kundkund’s thousand-year-old teachings into the contemporary devotional ecosystem of which Satshrut is a part.
